Listen to Radio XY on your iPhone

Andrew, an avid Radio XY listener pointed out an iPhone app called StreamItAll that allows you to tune in to any internet station. (Download it from the Apple store for $3.99.)

To use SreamItAll, you need to type in the URL of the station by hand. This is what you need: http://live.str3am.com:2120/listen.pls

Of course, YMMV. Don't forget to get the unlimited data plan first. ;)

Listen to Radio XY on your Palm Centro

PocketTunes comes pre-installed in the Centro. It doesn't have an "Open URL" function directly, but you can type the stream URL into the web browser (Blazer), and it will open PocketTunes automatically.

The URL you need is: http://live.str3am.com:2120/listen.pls

You only have to get it working once, then you can bookmark the station from within PocketTunes. (Menu/M to bookmark the station once it's playing, then Menu/K to access your bookmarks.)

Radio XY now accepting donations

Running a medium-sized internet station like Radio XY has some raw costs that can't be avoided. (Thanks to StreamGuys for keeping prices as low as possible, while at the same time providing high-quality bandwidth and unparalled service!)

Normally I prefer to pay all the station expenses myself, but the time has once again come to ask for your help. The last time I had to do this was in 2005, after an extended period "between jobs". I now find myself in the same situation.

  1. You can pop up a little window that automatically updates when the song changes. (Use the swcast.net window that you get when clicking Listen.)
  2. Get the last half dozen or so songs played, on a regular web page. (Link in the upper-right corner of this page.)
